The Ministry’s function is to improve and strengthen the country’s revenues through competent bodies, such as the DGI (General Tax Directorate) the national agency in charge of tax collection, and the DNA (National Customs Directorate), who operates in accordance with the provisions in the legal framework set forth by the Uruguayan Customs Code, inter alia. The Ministry is here in charge of surveying the national revenues obtained from the country’s imports and exports activities. The agency is also in charge of requesting and paying loans, as well as managing the money spent by the various government departments; in pursuance of those functions, the Ministry submits the National Budget to Parliament for approval.
