The National Institute for Logistics<\/strong> was created through a Law that was passed in late 2010, with the unanimous endorsement of all the political parties.<\/p>\n

Some of the rationales claimed at Parliament for its creation included the need to \u201cdefine a State Policy for the development of the logistics sector\u201d and for a \u201cquantitative leap through the creation of an institute that would address the issue with a long-term vision\u201d.<\/p>\n

Following a debate that had started in 2009 on the most suitable features for the agency that would be in charge of analyzing and co-coordinating efforts within the logistics sector, it was concluded that the best would be to create a public & private partnership through a council that would represent the activity. That gave rise to the creation of INALOG, as a legal non-governmental person qualified to act both at a national and international level.<\/p>\n

With the inception of the Institute, the promotion of logistics-related activities was declared of national interest; the scope to be applied was broad, so as to encompass both domestic logistics and that associated to foreign trade.<\/p>\n

The National Institute for Logistics has been entrusted with a number of tasks, including, although not limited to:<\/p>\n

A) Promoting the professionalization and efficiency of the logistics sector, aimed at positioning Uruguay as a regional distribution center.<\/p>\n

B) Promoting the development of logistics through research, outreach and dissemination activities.<\/p>\n

C) Promoting the brand URUGUAY LOG\u00cdSTICO as a quality hallmark of the national logistics industry.<\/p>\n

D) Providing advice to the Executive Power.<\/p>\n

E) Developing and providing information and support services to the local and international logistics agents.<\/p>\n

F) Identifying the training needs of the agents related to the sector.<\/p>\n

G) Conducting any further activity conducive to the achievement of the goals entrusted.<\/p>\n
